Idk why but they all run better than Battlefield for me. So choosing that stage is best, but I've also found that if you like platforms, Dreamland seems to run pretty darn well on average, and is usually my next choice, followed by Smashville and then possibly Yoshis Story. Ironically, the waiting room is apparently the one online stage that if chosen for your match causes least lag, since it has no platforms or bg animations.

And many people say that practicing in the waiting room before an online match also causes lag by straining the server, so try to avoid moving in the waiting room. Also never play the browser game, only DL ssf2. So it's recommended you restart the app if you've been playing for awhile, and definitely restart every new online opponent you face (since connecting to new opponents causes more and more lag over time). Or in-game tips are: flash games like this can inherently get laggy if you play for longer than 30-60 min, sometimes less.

Most obvious being to male sure you're within good range of your router or ideally wired, make sure no other devices on your network are using data (I usually put all devices in airplane mode to be sure, but I live alone so its easy for me).
